Kǒnglóng Drinks

The drinks of the Kǒnglóng are as varied as their people.

Brewed from a brown bean, this rich and thick drink is served and indulged in around the colder times, or when one feels need of comfort.1) Both sweet and spicy, from additives like chili spices, this drink coats the mouth and allowed the drinker to experience the total taste of it.

There are many varieties of Tsainy2), just about any plant that can be dried and then steeped with hot water has it's own drink. The main types are Black, White, Green, and Herbal. They are served normally hot, sometimes with sweetener, some can be enjoyed cold if the drinker prefers it.

Khar nerekh3)4) is a dark hot drink, that is served with the option of sweetener, though some add a bit of blood or coconut milk to help mild out the drink. It is mainly drunk in the mornings, though some drink it through out the day as if they were addicted to the contents.

Xuè chá5) is usually made from diluted blood of game or any other race that is in opposition to the Kǒnglóng. This is a special drink that is made only during special occasions like rights of passage or marriage ceremonies. It is meant to make the ones who drink it stronger in their bonds with either the community or each other.

Water comes in two forms; Fresh and Reconstituted. The fresh comes from planets and is transported up to ships. Reconstituted water is recycled water aboard ships, and on dry planets through means of a water recyclers. The waters come from waste and is filtered, run through reversed osmosis, and then distilled.

Made with fruit or berry juices, Pào pào yǐn6) adds more sugars and is caffeinated. These are used as a general drink or as energy drinks. The most common are ones made from Oranges, and other citric fruits. Though there are others made from Berries that make for a darker flavors and sweeter drinks. There are some that use Khar Nerekh or Tsainy for the caffeine.

Just about any fruit, vegetable, or berry can be made into Sok7), but most prefer the following:

  • Orange Sok
  • Apple Sok
  • Strawberry Banana Sok (Which can be combined with the others above to make a smoothie)
  • Coconut Sok
  • Tomato Sok
  • Boysenberry Sok
  • Mixed Berry Sok (blend of favorite berries, though usually Blueberry, Blackberry and Strawberry)
  • Carrot Sok
  • Mixed Sok of various fruits and vegetables (a good way to ensure kids get enough of both!)
  • Lemon Sok would be mixed with sweeter and water to make Lemonade

Liquor of the Kǒnglóng are as varied as they are strong.

Dàmǐ píjiǔ

This beer8) is served at most meals, though usually drunk in the evening with dinner or a deserts.

Mài yá píjiǔ

This drink of Mài yá píjiǔ9), is made to be served at lunch or dinners. Though it is also consumed after shift hours. It comes in a few different types, ranging from dark to light, amber colored liquids.

Jiāngguǒ jiǔ

This sweet wine10) is served at any time that one would like a drink that isn't all that alcoholic. Being fairly weak,11) it is a drink that is allowed to youths.

Yēzi jiǔ

This thick white drink12) is made from coconut milk that had been fermented and then condensed. It is served in special shallow small bowls.

Fēngmì jiǔ

This drink 13) 14) is fermented from honey and water, though some brews add spices and seasonings that help change the flavor. This drink can be drank cold, room temp, or even hot.

Wēishìjì

A golden amber color gives this drink15) a distinctive look. It is brewed from sugars and grains, then after distillation it is placed in a wooded cask and aged for numerous years.

Shǔ lèi báijiǔ

This clear sprite16) 17) Is first fermented out of tubers then distilled, it is used to mix with many different types of juices to create mixed drinks. Though mixed drinks is the most common way to drink it, those who like the straight flavor drink it straight up.

Xiānrénzhǎng jiǔ

Xiānrénzhǎng jiǔ 18) 19) is created by fermenting parts of a low water resourced plant. It is normally imbibed via small shot glasses with a slice of citrus fruit and salt.

Jiāngguǒ tián jiǔ mì

This Liqueur20) is made by distilling a mead that was fermented with a berry. It is served in small glasses and sipped over time.
